Naturopathy FAQ
In Australia, there are no legal requirements for practicing as a naturopath as it is not a registered profession. In order to join an association and accept claims from private health funds, however, generally a four-year government recognised bachelor’s degree is now required.
In addition to completing this course, we recommend that you obtain both professional indemnity and malpractice insurance if you plan to treat patients. There are legal complications if you give incorrect advice to a patient and you are not covered by insurance.
This course is designed as an introduction to naturopathy and is suitable for those wishing to add to their natural health skillset. It is also a great way for already qualified naturopaths to gain an understanding of traditional healing knowledge from around the world.
If you are thinking of practicing as a naturopath after completing this course, it is a good idea to look into insurance options. There are several options on where to get your standard Malpractice and General Liability Insurance, one of the companies that we recommend is JUA Underwriting Agency Pty Limited due to its affordability (www.jua.com.au).
Yes, you can enrol and start your studies at any time. This is an online course and there is no classroom attendance. Currently this is a textbook based only course; we do not have video content or any additional components.
The prices will vary since some students prefer to buy paperback copies (verses hardback), used books or kindle editions. The approximate cost of all the textbooks when purchased new is $300.
There are assignments that correspond with each textbook and no exams. You may refer to your notes and books to assist you with your assignments. These assignments are designed to be simple and concise, and to ensure that you have read and properly understood the information before you counsel others.
Then you will be issued a different assignment and be allowed to retake it at an additional cost of $30. Though none of our students have had to have an assignment reissued for this course.
