Certificate Of Wholefood Nutrition
Our Certificate Of Wholefood Nutrition is unique because it provides students with a strong foundation in modern nutrition and Asian traditions including Ayurveda. It is a vegetarian and vegan based nutrition course.
Food As Medicine
“Let food be thy medicine” is the essence of this course. Our approach to nutrition teaches students how to eat healthy with whole foods rather than receive nutrients through supplementation. So what are wholefoods? Wholefoods are found in nature, unprocessed and unrefined. Wholefoods typically do not contain additives like salt, fats, sugars, and stabilizers. You will learn which foods contain which nutrients, as well as about the energetic properties of food.
You will also learn traditional uses for foods in medicine. For example, you will understand how adzuki beans help restore adrenal function and why leafy greens food will clear the liver and therefore detoxify the body. This is because we focus on food as medicine tips from all over the world. We will help you to understand Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine and their theories that some foods can heat a person up or cool them down. You’ll also learn about foods that can clear blockages or stagnation in the liver and other traditional ways of looking at health.
Healing Through Diet
In addition, you will study the most prevalent causes of death in the modern world—heart disease, diabetes, and cancer—and how diet plays a crucial role in preventing and reversing these diseases. Most pharmaceutical companies and food corporations focus on isolating specific nutrients and turning them into pill form or fortifying otherwise nutrient-lacking food rather than promoting a whole food diet.
The problem with this approach is that humans require several nutrients that work in conjunction with each other to support a healthy lifestyle, and when scientists isolate vitamins and minerals they also do not consider that these nutrients may not be as effective taken separately. Whereas, a holistic approach provides the information on how to obtain a complex combination of nutrients by eating a wide variety of fresh and unprocessed, primarily plant-based foods and dispelling the protein myth.
We also take you into some of the larger issues of nutrition and how food affects our planet. The author John Robbins elaborates on the effects of food choices on the earth’s environment and other living creatures. He also shows you how food corporations with vested interests have been manipulating people with false claims and half-truths about nutritional information distributed in schools and for doctors.
